Self-Care Is Taking Care Of Your “Downstairs”

Discussing the “downstairs” area can be a sensitive topic for most women but it’s completely necessary to do so. Actually vaginal health is extremely important to woman’s health in general. It has been proven that vaginal problems not only affect sexual relations and fertility but it can also affect self-confidence.

I felt compelled to share in hopes that it might help someone struggling in that area. Here are some tips that I have learned throughout the years:

Anti-bacterial bar soap is a must. Having an unscented antibacterial soap can really help eliminate infections. You never want to anything scented on your vagina as it might cause an unpleasant smell eventually. When cleaning my external vaginal area, I always wash my hands with antibacterial soap such as Dial, then I wash that area with my hands cleaning thoroughly in between each labia then rinsing with water. Next, using an unscented feminine wash can help make sure that area is entirely clean. My favorite feminine wash is The Honey Pot, this product is literally a God send for women. A couple of pumps is all it takes to fully pamper your lady bit. Honey Pot helps balance ph levels, it’s all plant-based and natural so there are no worries about having harmful artificial chemicals anywhere near your womanhood.

After showering, make sure the “downstairs” area is dry. Leaving it damp may leave room for infections and fishy smells.

Cotton is your friend. Wearing cotton underwear is almost as important as putting on a bra. Any other material other than cotton will cause an unwanted stench and excessive discharge.

Finally, self-care for your “downstairs” area is not just cleaning properly but also what you consume that can affect it. I would recommend take a probiotic and drink plenty of water.

Don’t be embarrassed, take charge of your “downstairs”proper care of it is self-care!
