Sometimes when we are having trouble sleeping it’s mainly caused by the worries we have not let go from the day or the day before. Or we watch something on tv so intriguing are mind is racing afterwards. These are unhealthy practices before bed. Before bed, your room should be quiet and peaceful. I have found that writing what you have accomplished throughout the day or the goals that still need to be achieved is a great way to clear your head and a perfect way to relax. If you are like me and have an infant that still doesn’t sleep completely through the night (this too shall pass) this might be more of a challenge, however it’s not impossible. Studies have proven that meditating before bed can help calm the body and mind and promote relaxation and inner peace. I have found that heading to bed early can give you time to incorporate meditation before bed. Also, calming instrumental music can give your mind the peace it needs to be clear. It’s so important to have restful sleep. Some benefits of restful sleep include boosting the immune system, preventing weight gain and maintaining a healthy heart. In order to have that soulful slumber, clearing our heads is an important step to achieve that. Mamas, you are worthy of rest, you definitely deserve that and so much more, be kind to yourself!
