As women, we all are not the most excited when the bloody beast comes for its monthly visit. Almost anything that helps ease this unpleasant arrival is always welcomed. Here are some tips and tricks that I have learned along the way to make my time of the month less dreadful.
Drink Plenty Of Water
No seriously, drinking at least 8 cups of water will make you feel better and help make your cycle go quicker. Enough water intake will help cut down on some bloating so you don’t feel like a floating balloon.
Increase Fruits and Veggies
I know, we all want that greasy junk food to satiate our palates, however, that particular option, is what you don’t necessarily want to overindulge on. Eating fruits and veggies, at least for the first part of the day can truly make a difference in how we feel.
Exercise
Even if it’s for 20 minutes, stress is notorious for increasing cramping and make us feel gross. However when we exercise it reduces stress levels which decreases the nagging pain of cramps.
Period Products
Feminine washes, neutralizers, the right pads and tampons, are essential when you are on your cycle. Feminine washes, such as my current favorite brand L, has a specific wash for period care to help keep away that unwanted bloody smell and assist in feeling more clean. Neutralizers, does it’s job and neutralizes that area, to eliminate bloody scents. My favorite neutralizing spray is from The Honey Pot in Lavender, it’s plant-based and all-natural and it also helps balance ph levels. Having the right pads and tampons is so crucial when it’s the time of the month, so why not invest in companies that care about a woman’s well-being. I love L chlorine free ultra thin pads because they are made by women who are for women, the pads are not infested with harmful chemicals or dyes so these pads definitely will not create problems down there.
Indulge A Little
If you are craving something fierce, it’s completely okay to indulge and eat it, whether it’s decadent chocolate or almost half of a pizza, do you, and eat what you want. Consider it a cheat day(s) and treat yourself.
Mamas, we are strong and we endure a lot and one of the many things we face are the inevitable “time of the month,” however instead of dreading the unavoidable, make it tolerable with these tips and tricks!
