As we are in the summer months, the weather is quite steamy which means we tend to become thirsty more often. We instinctively crave water when we are parched and we drink enough until our palate is satiated. However, water shouldn’t just be when we are thirsty we should make it a habit to drink water before getting to that point. Water has many benefits and that’s why it’s so necessary to drink enough of it on a daily basis. It’s not sufficient to drink a glass and then turn around and drink several cans of pop. Drinking enough water causes you to be properly hydrated, whereas pop does the opposite, causing dehydration which can eventually affect your kidneys if neglected long enough. Some health issues can simply be eliminated by being properly hydrated. Some benefits from water include: Cleansing your bladder, preventing constipation, stabilizing blood pressure, bloat prevention, cushioning joints, regulating body temperature, and it also aids with skin health. After I have all of the water that my Hydrojug contains (which is about 9 cups) I feel refreshed, lighter and of course, well-hydrated. It has been proven that if you drink pop you have to drink at least one 8 oz. glass of water to replenish the water that was depleted and that is not including the water that is recommended for your body weight. Before you reach for that pop ( soda if you say it that way, I guess) think about the many benefits water has and how that pop will make you feel a few hours later (probably parched again) for me, is an unwanted headache. Self-care is proper hydration, your body is counting on you, treat yourself with better health!
